FARM MANAGER

We are recruiting for a Farm Manager to join our team at Mowi Canada East Inc. on our remote farm sites in the Bay’s West area on the South Coast of NL. If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to expand your career and want to work with a likeminded team, then this is the role for you!

ABOUT THE JOB

Reporting to the Area Manager, this role is a crucial part of our operations process and ensures the best management of our salmon in a sustainable and efficient way. In this role you will strive for continuous growth and manage all aspects of farm site work to keep the team on track and performing well.

Your main job duties will include the safe and successful operation of your farm, manage the site team, promote a safe and positive work environment, maintain the company’s high standards of fish husbandry and welfare, feed management and growth performance, monitor and inspect fish appearance and behaviour, budget control and maintain reliable data records and all other all required general farm tasks.  

This is a permanent, full-time position and offers on site living accommodations with a shift schedule of two weeks on, two weeks off. Both internal and external candidates are encouraged to apply. Interviews will begin throughout February with positions anticipated to start late March and April.

The ideal candidates would be safety oriented and willing to work in a team environment with a passion for the industry. They would have:

  • Relevant post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience within the industry
  • Leadership and project management abilities
  • Respect for the need for safe working practices
  • Well-developed English verbal and written communication
  • Good computer and document management knowledge
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn and participate in training opportunities
  • Ability to work well with employees across the organization in a team orientated environment
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in challenging outdoor weather
  • Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to work a two week on, two week off shift and live on site in the company accommodation barge
  • Marine related training certificates would be an asset
