To support our growing needs, we are seeking a Financial Modelling Lead to join our team!

The Financial Modelling Lead will participate directly in aerospace program pursuits and development by developing detailed financial models as well as assist with the review and negotiation of contract terms. The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial analysis and modelling for large contract bid submissions (capital and operating cost and pricing analysis).

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will primarily support financial modelling for all contracts and support analysis of draft contract terms & conditions as required.

Financial Modelling:

  • Develop complex financial models from base-level costing to final customer pricing; play a lead role in developing costing standards and financial modelling templates & costing tools, coordinating information requirements to ensure accurate information capture within financial models;
  • Develop costing and pricing tools, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the costing and pricing functions;
  • Complete financial analytics for multiple cost and pricing scenarios of a program or business case;
  • Present cost and pricing information to internal stakeholders as part of proposal reviews;
  • Engage with cross-functional teams and program management to review, challenge, and communicate program risks, identify mitigations and assist in development of strategic alternatives;
  • Work with the divisional accounting and finance team to support the transition from capture to execution;
    • present to the finance team details for cost capture
    • assist with setup of the program financial tracking by communicating the details of the program and intent behind the underlying costs in the financial model
    • ensure resulting financial statements align with the financial model;

 Commercial Pursuits and Contract Analysis:

  • Participate in contract pursuit bid program development;
  • Develop and maintain aerospace industry knowledge through close collaboration with internal program management, technical, and operational teams; attending educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, etc.;
  • Participate and support the broader capture team during the review and negotiation of contract terms and conditions;

Domestic and international travel as needed;  
Other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or relevant education is required. It is preferred if the successful candidate has a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
  • A minimum of 5 years of financial modeling required
  • Experience in contract analysis is preferred; experience in government programs, aviation and aerospace programs, or infrastructure programs would be considered an asset
  • Experience in the aviation and aerospace industry is highly desired
  • Experience working as part of, or, leading multi-disciplinary technical teams
  • Prior experience and understanding of government contracting and program capture process
  • A proven self-starter who takes initiative,  ability to work independently, seek information from internal/external sources
  • Experience in building relationships and ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels within the organization
  • Effective time management skills with the drive to meet firm customer-imposed deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities with the ability to think objectively and apply sound decision making and judgement
  • A high attention to detail in all aspects of financial modelling, as well as throughout the stages of contract development
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of tools including MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and financial software applications. Advanced knowledge of Excel is essential, experience with the use of MS Project is an asset
  • Experience working with a large, multi-divisional company, and/or matrix-organizational structure, is preferred
  • Must be eligible for International Trade in Armaments (ITAR) / Canadian Controlled Goods (CCG) clearance
  • Must be eligible for and able to obtain to obtain a Canadian Industrial Security Program LEVEL II – “SECRET” clearance;
