The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL) regulates the practice of medicine in the public interest. Newfoundland and Labrador has been diligently working to reduce barriers and to allow doctors with comparable credentials to work in our province more quickly.
New approved licensure jurisdiction pathways for family physicians from Ireland, U.K., United States of America (USA), and Australia, as well as others approved by the CPSNL.
Practice Ready Assessment: For IMG’s who are deemed eligible for a provincial license and not part of the approved licensure jurisdiction pathways, a 12-week clinical field assessment (CFA) that must be successfully completed prior to issuance of a license. Financial support to complete the PRA program is available with a return-in-service to the province.

The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) is a division under the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills.
OIM assists skilled workers, international graduates and entrepreneurs in obtaining permanent residency in Canada via provincial immigration pathways - the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
OIM also assists local employers who are experiencing workforce challenges in recruiting and retaining qualified skilled candidates via the NLPNP and the AIP.
