JOB SUMMARY

 We are looking for a detail-oriented Carpenter to work on a variety of construction projects.

 Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Carpenter will play a pivotal role in fulfilling the company's carpentry and maintenance requirements. The position encompasses a range of key responsibilities, including ensuring the safe construction, installation, and repair of wooden structures. Additionally, the Carpenter will oversee the Carpenter Apprenticeship Program.

 A carpenter will have great hand dexterity and an eye for detail. The ideal candidate will also have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS

 Applicants must be/have

  • Must possess a Red Seal Carpentry Trade Certification, preferably the interprovincial Red Seal.
  • Five (5) years of experience in all areas of carpentry, preferably in commercial property maintenance environments
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license
  • Experience having mentored Carpenter Apprentices would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and related processes
  • Knowledge of applicable construction standards, code requirements and the carpentry apprenticeship
  • Ability to create carpentry plans for projects, including estimating time and materials required
  • Ability to properly operate and safely use trade power and hand tools.
  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings
  • Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
  • Holder of a Permanent Residency Confirmation or Open Work Permit
