Summary:
The Operations Manager will be directly responsible for daily janitorial operations, customer satisfaction, account retention, and fostering strong employee relations. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Work scheduling of all account personnel
  • Establishing work standards
  • Conducting site evaluations/audits
  • Managing overall inventory and equipment usage
  • Controlling the budget
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Orientation and training of supervisory, team lead, and support personnel
  • Ensuring safety compliance
  • Maintaining customer relations
  • Undertaking special project work as requested.

This individual will ensure that all managed services are delivered in a proper and cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure service delivery is consistent with the highest quality standards within our organization.
  • Maintain employee personal records for administrative compliance.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, execute, and supervise janitorial and staffing operations across all shifts.
  • Establish and enforce workflow processes and standards.
  • Ensure that environmental procedures are maintained in accordance with NWT Labour Standards and federal government requirements.
  • Meet and communicate regularly with clients to ensure satisfaction, identify opportunities, and provide status updates on daily operations and projects.
  • Act as liaison between clients, supervisory/team leads, operations lead, and corporate support teams.
  • Control expenses for all managed operations, review job costs, and make necessary adjustments to meet budget compliance.
  • Respond to inquiries or complaints and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Manage contracts for advertising and marketing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, Indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.

Mandatory Requirement:

  • Diversity and Inclusion: Part of the orientation includes completing the GNWT comprehensive self-directed learning program: An Introduction to Living Well Together. The successful candidate must agree to complete the course An Introduction to Living Well Together before the end of the first three months of employment.

Position Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, motivating, developing, and leading a team. Knowledge of human resources or the ability to quickly learn Canada’s policies and practices, including the development of staffing plans and job descriptions, employee relations, training, safety, benefit administration, and succession planning.
  • Ability to create and forecast productivity, staffing, and budget plans. Initiate and document corrective actions in a professional and thorough manner as needed.
  • Highest level of commitment to client satisfaction and quality standards. Ability to take on a leadership role in client communication regarding our programs and services, as well as performance under the contract.
  • Provide feedback to management as needed on unique client requirements and opportunities to expand client relationships.
  • Previous janitorial management experience is a MUST.

Education/Experience:

  • Completion of Grade 12 and 2 years of university education, or a non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years.
  • Two years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience in hospitality, janitorial, and/or staffing industry operations.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
