Job Summary:
We are looking for a versatile and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to support our kitchen operations. This role is vital to ensuring a seamless dining experience by handling food preparation, dishwashing, and general cleaning tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and a passion for maintaining a clean and organized restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Food Preparation:
o Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning food items.
o Follow recipes and guidelines provided by chefs to ensure consistency and quality.
o Prepare and organize food for service, ensuring readiness for cooking.
• Dishwashing:
o Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using dishwashing equipment or by hand.
o Ensure that cleaned items are stored properly in designated areas.
o Monitor dishwashing equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly and report any issues to management.
• General Cleaning:
o Maintain cleanliness of all areas, including kitchen, dining, and restrooms.
o Sweep, mop, and sanitize floors, counters, and surfaces throughout the restaurant.
o Remove trash and recyclables and ensure proper disposal.
o Assist with deep cleaning tasks as scheduled or requested by management.
• Inventory & Supplies:
• Compliance:
o Adhere to all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
o Follow food safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure quality.
Qualifications
• Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
